Negotiation of Treaties and Instruments of
Less-Than-Treaty Status
Lexbridge has substantial expertise and experience in the negotiation of treaties and instruments of less-than-treaty status. We provide support for accession to bilateral, plurilateral and multilateral agreements and have been deeply involved in negotiations relating to climate change and the environment (e.g. the Kyoto Protocol, Paris Agreement); trade and investment (e.g. multiple Free Trade Agreements and WTO accession instruments); arms control and counter-proliferation (e.g. Cluster Munitions Convention and Arms Trade Treaty); defence and security (e.g. an array of instruments across visiting forces agreements, security of information agreements, defence cooperation agreements, science and technology instruments, and acquisition instruments); aviation and maritime (e.g. Beijing Convention and Protocol), and humanitarian issues (e.g. the Global Compact on Refugees).
Lexbridge also has deep subject matter expertise related to international policy at the intersection of international security; bilateral, multilateral and regional engagement; and international law having supported government on designing and developing public policy across cross-cutting international law, policy and strategy issues.
